Pat Betts says "Moving to Bath over 40 years ago I went to part-time classes at an art college in Sydney Buildings. I mostly did oil painting and life drawing also experimenting with tapestry weaving and ceramics. I enjoy painting landscapes as I trained as a geography teacher and did lots of sketching of rocks. I became interested in what is under the landscape and what has shaped it over the years. At home I am surrounded by trees and enjoy the shapes and seasonal views through the branches. When I retired as a vicar I was given the gift of a painting holiday in Minorca and sable brushes. I am interested in using wax, conte hard pastels and ink with watercolour. I like to explore resist techniques and texture. I prefer painting in groups and have belonged to various groups through my time in Bath".
